ABOUT US

The Union for Development and Decent Habitat “UDHAD” in acronym was created in  Uvira, South Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo on June 30, 2020, as an act of awareness of the daughters and sons of Uvira on their responsibility in the development of the Congo 60 years after its independence.

UDHAD was established as a non-governmental community development organization to support people in their efforts to build sustainable, prosperous and healthy communities. UDHAD also wants to be an organization dedicated to the environment, to ecological construction, to the mobilization of the Congolese diaspora to support the development of the country and also to the training of young people to be able to take charge of themselves to usefully contribute to growth. social, economic and environmental communities.

Commitment

We initiated our efforts to prepare this guide based on our belief in the need for UDHAD.  This UDHAD Institutional Guide in the Light of Corporate Governance Principles has been formulated since UDHAD will operate in various fields with various objectives to enrich its traditional management methods with the best practices of institutional governance and the guide and help him manage his own strengths and effectiveness.

For this basis, one could say that a good understanding of the powerful governance of the UDHAD would be too important on the basis of the following realities:

  • Allows a better quality and quantity of membership structures, which is the fundamental value for a non-governmental organization.
  • Respects the principle of equity in relations with members.
  • Supports the establishment of an internal audit system in the light of transparency and accountability, ensures that activities are in the best public interest and helps prevent corruption and bad practices.
  • In light of the principle of responsibility, guarantees compliance with legal regulations and serves as a model of good practice for members and stakeholders through the internalization of these practices.
  • Ensures the establishment of a healthy communication platform between all stakeholders such as members, media organizations, public authorities, sponsors and support institutions on the issues advocated and ensures the credibility of the organization,
  • While facilitating the planning and implementation of the leadership rotation process, it decreases the losses that may arise at this stage.
  • Help the governance structure become its best possible version.

There is no doubt that meeting these expectations will only be possible by adopting the governance principles of UDHAD as a corporate culture.

However, the purpose of this manual is to guide the governance processes of UDHAD in accordance with its statutes and organizational practices. It aims to help and support the assembly and the council to act on behalf of the organization of their functions, responsibilities, and the various legislative and regulatory conditions which govern their conduct.

UDHAD is a non-governmental organization created on June 30, 2020 in Uvira, South Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo by children of Congo who care about its development through prosperous, developed and sustainable local communities living in harmony with nature and the environment.

UDHAD was created by individuals from various social, ethnic, religious and gender backgrounds to support the vision of a diverse Congolese society united around the ideals of development and prosperity for all.

It is approved by the Congolese government by the acknowledgment of receipt requested by the legal personality of the Ministry of Justice and Keeper of the Seals under number F.92 / 38973 of August 25, 2020 and regularly registered as a development organization at the Town Hall. d’Uvira under number N ° 402 / CAB / MAIRIE-UV / F.9 / 2020 of November 13, 2020.

OUR VISION
The vision of the Union for Development and Decent Housing “UDHAD” in acronym is to build prosperous and sustainable communities
OUR MISSION
The mission of UDHAD is to support grassroots communities in their development process so that they live in harmony with nature and the environment through the construction of ecological habitat, a conscious, committed and enterprising youth. as well as a diaspora which brings added value to the development of grassroots communities
OUR CAUSES
Environment Reforestation

The EReforest program aims to increase the local communities’ resilience to the impact of climate change. Climate change intensively hits local communities in the Uvira region and impacts their ability to produce foods and to have a clean and safe environment. This program works with local community leaders, farmers, and eco-friends to reduce that impact through different projects such as eco-stove, free-tree donations, collection and waste management, and environmental education.

Ecological Construction of Housing

The ECHo program helps people build houses according to norms, and standards of ecological adaptation to climate change. In tropical regions, building houses should align with the weather and climate requirements. UDHAD trains construction workers, advises building owners, and engages local communities in ecological housing programs to ensure they adapt to the climate and to experience friendly nature living.

Diaspora Mobilization for Grassroots Development Initiatives

The Diaspora plays a key role in contributing to the development of communities. UDHAD works with diaspora leaders to facilitate some services on the ground and to engage them in different development initiatives on the ground.

Due to the lack of confidence, UDHAD opens its doors to provide accurate, updated, and reliable information on how the diaspora can be involved in those initiatives to reduce the rate of poverty, invest in social businesses, and keep in touch with the homeland.

Youth, Leadership, Business & Entrepreneurship – Volunteers

Youth comprises more than 50% of the Uvira population. To ensure that their potential matters, their energy is positively engaged, and its strength is productively used, UDHAD works with young people and women in different initiatives including leadership and personal growth programs, micro-finance education, addressing unemployment, and peace, diversity, and inclusion among youth from different backgrounds and cultures.
